Coming from Ireland Chris’ biggest concern about working in New Zealand is the weather, as he says “It’s bloody hot here in summer…I don’t know how they do it in Australia!” Luckily for us he chose New Zealand over Australia and has become an integral part of the project management team.
Like the rest of the team Chris has a passion for sports, particularly rugby and cycling, which keeps him fit and physical for the hands on approach to the construction process that Johnstone Construction employs.
Working in a small, tightly knit team Chris appreciates the opportunities to be involved at all levels and stages of the construction process. Chris feels that, like the rugby he loves playing, teamwork and knowledge sharing are crucial to getting things done effectively.
Chris is proud of what he has achieved in his life to date which includes winning the Under 18’s rugby championship in Ireland, living and working in three different countries and travelling to many more. Learning about new cultures and ways of life has had a big impact on how Chris manages projects as it is his adaptability and commitment to getting the job done, no matter how difficult the task, that has been key to Chris’s success at Johnstone Construction.
“Working at Johnstone Construction has been a great opportunity to take a leap in my career as I learn more about project management. I really enjoy the technical demands of building the fuel sites because they involve a vast array of different civil and construction works.”
