TE TIHI VERCOE
Apprentice Carpenter/Plant Operator
Te Tihi (Te) is a valued member of the Johnstone Construction team working as both hammer hand and plant operator. His great work ethic, friendly nature and liking for physical work saw him move quickly from contract labourer to employee.
In less than a year with Johnstone Construction Te has secured his Elevated Work Platform ticket and a Class 2 Truck licence. He is an excellent all-rounder and indispensable to the smooth operation of our sites.
His past work experience has included working as a steel fixer, a contract strapper, a kiwifruit packer and at a sawmill. This variety of experience has seen him willing to turn his hand to any aspect of the construction process and support the team to get builds done with the famous Johnstone Construction efficiency.
Te chose to work for Johnstone Construction as he enjoys physical work in a positive team environment which is what the company offered. He values the construction experience he is gaining in plant operations – digger, roller and compactor work, civil manual handling – curb preparation, foundation preparation and marking, as well as standing of concrete panels and putting up framing.
Outside of work Te enjoys playing rugby and indoor netball, like his work at Johnstone Construction, he loves the physical demands of both games and the team work involved with sporting activities. His proudest accomplishment is becoming a Father to a baby boy who has brought him many great ‘Dad’ moments.
